Atkins diet is a low carb diet which is recommended usually for weight loss. This diet is based on the principle that you can lose weight as eating a lot of proteins and good fats as long as you avoid foods that are high in carbs. More than 20 studies in the past 12 years has shown that low carb diets are very effective for weight loss and improves health drastically. This diet was promoted by Dr. Robert C. Atkins who had written the bestselling book about the diet in the year 1972.

Atkins Diet has 4 different phase.

Phase 1: This is the induction phase. In this phase, you don’t have more than 20 grams of carbs per day for 2 weeks. Foods that are high in protein, fat with low carb vegetables like green leafy vegetables are consumed. This starts the weight loss.
Phase 2: This is the balancing phase. Here you start to add more nuts into your diet along with low carb veggies and small amounts of fruits in the diet.
Phase 3: This is the fine tuning phase. When you start getting closer to your goal weight, you start to add carbs until your weight loss slows down.
Phase 4: This is the maintenance phase. Here you consumed more amount of healthy carbs as the body can tolerate without gaining weight.

Foods to eat:
Meats like beef, pork, lamb, chicken, bacon and others
Eggs
Fatty fish and seafood such as Salmon, sardines
Full-Fat Dairy like Butter, Cheese, Full fat yoghurt.
Healthy Fats like virgin olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil.
